Ferleiten (1.145 m) - Käfertal (1.428 m)

Walking sign 12 - approx. 2 hour walking time
Ferleiten valley: family hiking area, magnificent valley end of the Kaefertal with the so called Rotmoos valley (marshy meadows with a unique flora in Europe) which is one of the nicest landscapes of the Hohe Tauern. Before the tollgate you turn right into the valley of Ferleiten (parking place, bus stop), at the guesthouse the public road ends. A small, flat road now carrys on through to a changing landscape. Small forests, grassland and alpine huts accompany you until the Rotmoos where you will get to after approx. 45min. At the first crossing you carry straight on and at the second crossing you stay also on your side of the Fuscher Ache. On your right hand side you will see the picturesque Stiegerlam (hut). After passing a few gates the way becomes more stony, narrows and ascends slightly to the valley end. Only a small forest prevents you from looking into the western part of the valley. Steep stonewalls with down running melt water decorate the valley end. If you dont´t need a path you can walk into the wild romantic high valley.
