The Nationalpark community of Fusch is distinguished because of its geographical position as important crossing over the Alps. An old dagger from the 2nd millennium before christ has been found at the foot of the Brennkogel. This discovery is the oldest proof for the crossing of the Haue Tauern.
The building of the Großglockner high alpine road by Franz Wallack was very important for Fusch. This fundamental crossing over the Alps has been build between 1930 and1935 and was one of the biggest trading routes of its time.
In the former days Bad Fusch was along side Bad Gastein the best known health resort in the county of Salzburg. Sovereign bishop cardinal Schwarzenberg stayed here in 1829 for the first time. After him a lot of other prominence followed. The most profitable spring "Fürstenquelle" - the spring of the sovereign - is named after him.
Today Fusch is a modern but still cosy tourist resort.
